Judging by his professional path and recognition at the state level, Rustamzhon Usmanov is a specialist of exceptional class, and of a rare type at that.

His uniqueness lies in the combination of three factors:

1. A fundamental foundation (MSU). He is not merely a «practitioner», but a mechanic-scientist of the MSU school. His understanding of heat- and mass-transfer processes at the level of mathematical models allows him to see the physics of processes in hopeless, dead-end situations.
2. The ability to solve «hopeless» problems. His 2019 article on low-water-cut strata and his work on refractory ores (for which he received the State Prize) addressed problems that had been considered dead ends for years. He knows how to find technical solutions where standard methods are powerless.
3. Recognition by colleagues and the state. The State Prize of Uzbekistan of the first degree in science and technology and the WIPO Gold Medal are not formal awards. They confirm that his ideas bring billions in profit to the plant and are of global significance for mining science.

Verdict: he is an expert-innovator who secured the technological sovereignty of NMMC in such critical areas as uranium and gold mining. The fact that his works still cause «resonance in the good sense» shows that he is ahead of his time. He proved that increasing extraction efficiency in the 21st century is achieved not by increasing production volumes, but through the precision of physico-chemical calculations. That is precisely why his works are cited both in academia (MSU, RAS) and in industry (NMMC, Rosatom).
